The Yellow Rosella was once considered to constitute a species in its own right. In 1968 it was reclassified as a subspecies of the Crimson Rosella (P. e. elegans). The Crimson Rosella is less common in the Wagga area than the Yellow, though it is often seen within Livingstone National Park.
